What happens at the initial consultation appointment?
When you ring up for an appointment, our friendly receptionist will collect some information from you. She will send you a medical questionnaire to be filled out and brought along to your initial appointment. Please bring along any referral and x-rays from your dentist.
We strive to give you as much information as possible at the initial appointment so that you can make an informed decision about treatment for yourself or your child. Dr Liew will ask you a few questions to ascertain your main concerns. He will then examine you and any x-rays you have provided (x-rays may be taken in-house if needed) in order to give you a provisional diagnosis. If treatment is needed, a quotation will be given and payment options discussed.
Two more appointments are made for the collection of records and discussion of the final treatment plan. You may need to see your dentist for a check-up and extraction (if needed) before commencing treatment. As we do the indirect method of placing braces, an impression of your teeth is taken a week prior to the placement of braces.
If your child is not ready for treatment, he/she will be seen again in the future when the timing is right for treatment to proceed. Your child may be referred back to your dentist to have baby teeth extracted to allow for eruption of the permanent teeth.
